Dear Creator
Thank you for making something for me! I am always happy receive either gen or shippy fic regardless of the / or & marker in my sign up. If there is any pair I feel particularly strongly about I'll make sure to note that in the fandom section.
A note about comic books. I do the majority of my reading on Marvel Universe or DC Infinite, so I am perpetually around a year behind. For some of my requests this probably won't matter - I doubt Speedball will be showing up in anything anytime soon - and for some it's going matter a lot - Booster and Beetle's new series launched in July and I'll probably be getting the first issue a month after reveals. I don't care about spoilers, so if you're reading the newest issues in a timely manner (unlike me) feel free to use anything from them that inspires you. And on the other hand, don't feel like you can't write for me because you're not on top of the latest developments. I'm not either :)

Rick Brant Science Adventure Novels
I used to read this series as a kid and I recently found them again and reread a bunch of them and they are still as fun as I remember. It’s an adventure series in the vein of Hardy Boys and Johnny Quest. Rick Brant is the adventure boy in question, who loves inventing sort of useless gizmos. But his intelligence and knack for mechanical engineering always end up saving the day at least once. In the first book The Rocket’s Shadow he is saved from some nameless villains looking to kidnap or kill him by Don Scott, Scotty, an ex-marine who lied about his age to serve. Finding out that Scotty doesn’t have any family left and nowhere to go Rick convinces his father to hire Scotty as security for their research lab, and Scotty quickly becomes like a second son to them.
Where Can You Find Me:
Prompts that are only based on Rocket's Shadow
- A case leads to Rick and Scotty having to confront their feelings about each other.
- Scotty finally found a family and place to belong, but how long would that last if they knew how he felt about Rick?
Prompts that include information from later books
- What do the older Brants think about the Scotty situation? They sent Rick on what was essentially a milk run and he came home with an orphan. What conversations did they have about what they should do? In what ways do they attempt to incorporate him into their family? How do they convince him to go back to school?
-What does the future hold? Does Rick become a scientist like he plans or does the call of a good mystery eventually become too strong and he becomes a PI instead? Where do Chadra and Scotty fit into his future?
- I'd love to read something that goes into Scotty's backstory with the war, where he's originally from, and what happened to his family.
Arkham Horror
The games are more adventure than horror, and to motivate players to keep battling their way through daunting odds, they offer characters you can love enough to want to keep alive. The distinct time and place of Jazz Age Arkham (and other select locales across North and South America), make for a fun sandbox to play in with a lot of opportunity for case fic, romance and friendship, historical backstory, and hurt/comfort. (Stolen from Delphi’s promo post since they did a much better of explaining why it’s awesome then I have been able to)
Where Can You Find Me:
Any Investigator
I requested this tag because I love all the characters and one of my favorite aspects of the game is the way random people from very different walks of life all come together to save the world. I find all of the characters interesting and want to read about how they found each other, and what adventures they’ve gone on.
Prompts
- Pick 2+ investigators and write/draw the story of how they met and began working together
- Expand on anyone’s backstory and how they became involved in the supernatural
- Play a game and tell me what happened.
Worldbuilding
I'd love to hear more about the world around Arkham. What's the history of the Twilight Lodge? Who is Velma and what goes on at her diner? What strange things go on on the Unvisited Isle?
DC Comics
Michael Carter/Ted Kord
Michael Carter aka Booster Gold, is a thief and a conman from the far future. Ted Kord is a genius inventor. Together they fight crime!
From the first moment they met in JLI they just clicked and have brought a warmth and levity to every book they were in. Even the really angsty ones that make me cry (looking at you Injustice). They’re best friends who love each other, support each other, rib each other, and will rip apart the fabric of time for each other. They believed in each other and made each other better people, happier people and spending time with their characters is always rewarding.

Books That Are Relevant To Their Story:
Prompts
- Getting fake married for a mission that doesn't actually require anyone to be fake married.
- Ted didn't actually mean to ask Booster to marry him, there was a joke, people were laughing and now Booster is moving into his penthouse.
Arkillo/Guy Gardner
This love affair was brief but hit me exactly in my enemies to lovers spot. They are both of them defined by their loyalty. It’s this common moral ground that lets them build a respect and friendship that could cross the boundaries of the Yellow/Green war (and some pretty big ethical differences). When the tentative peace between their two sides inevitably falls apart with neither one of them willing to give up their loyalty to their respective leaders (and neither one expected or would have accepted such a choice from the other either) they still find a way to maintain that connection and respect. Even as they know one day they might have to kill each other.

Books That Are Relevant To Their Story:
While both characters have pretty long histories and can be found scattered across the Green Lantern franchise. However, there is only one book that matters to me:
Hal Jordan and The Green Lanterns
Prompts
- People tend to get lost in alternate universes, wiped from history, and temporarily dead all the time. How far would Arkillo or Guy go to get the other back.
- Guy and Arkillo have to team up to uncover who is trying to manipulate the green and yellow lanterns into another all out war.
Connor Hawke
Green Arrow II, Connor Hawke, is the illegitimate son of Oliver Queen (Green Arrow I). He meets his father for the first time at a Buddhist monastery that Oliver came to in order to find a respite from the chaos his life had become and where Connor has been living since he was 13. Following Oliver's death, Connor takes up the mantle of Green Arrow and attempts to live up to his father's legacy.
I love Connor. Connor is grounded and fairly emotionally stable for a man who wears green tights and fights crime with a bow and arrow that he isn't even very good with. This is not to say that the boy doesn't have issues. His daddy issues are so big that Kyle (Green Lantern) could see them from space (and was like "hey me too!"). Despite that he is kind, earnest and always willing to forgive even the worst betrayals. He is someone who believes in people and doing what is right.

DCU Holiday Bash
Batgirl (2000) #30-32
Birds Of Prey (1999) #43-46 Adventure Comics 80 Page Giant
Green Arrow (2001)
so this is Ollie’s book and the longest running writer, Judd Winick, doesn’t really seem interested in Connor’s character. However, it really leans into the ArrowFamily stuff and Connor is in nearly every issue if you're really dedicated to reading everything. But, since this series is also very long and I don’t think Winick was a good writer for Connor I leaving my recommendation for skimming:
Connor Hawke: Dragon’s Blood
Richard Dragon (2004) #8-12
Green Arrow and Black Canary (2007)
-------New 52-----
Written out of continuity - criminal is what it is
-------Rebirth-----
Robin (2021)
DC’s Festival of Heroes
Prompts
- Since Connor is famously a virgin (the ghost doesn’t count) how about a 5 first times for Connor (I’ve mentioned that I mainly ship him with Kyle, but I’m very open to alternatives - Roy, Jason, Rose, any boy or girl of your choice is good)
-Connor and Roy bonding (I would happily have read an entire series that was just Roy trying to teach Connor to drive)
- Post Rebirth - Wally's back and with him memories of a different life, everyone is talking about how everything is right again, so why does [Kyle/Oliver/Roy] still fill like something is missing? And how can he find it again if doesn't even know what or who it is?
- What did the League of Shadows save Connor from? Where has he been? What does he owe them? What was their training like?(guess who finally got Robin :D)
Marvel Comics
Vance Astrovik/Robbie Baldwin
Vance Astrovik is a mutant telekinetic whose powers were triggered when his future self came back in time and accidentally altered reality. Hoping to become like his idol Captain America he became the superhero Marvel Boy (he later changed that to Justice - the name is more commonly known as). He was recruited to join the New Warriors, and while he has been an Avenger a few times in the past he always comes back to them.
Robbie Baldwin was a normal suburban kid doing an internship at a physics research lab. Noticing that the scientists cat had snuck into the lab, Robbie went in to retrieve it only for both himself and the cat to get blasted with experimental particles that turned him to the hero Speedball. As the sole survivor of the Stamford incident that started Civil War, Robbie was scapegoated by both the public and the hero community, leaving him under the control of Green Goblin, where he changed his name to Penance.
Following the downfall of Goblin’s Dark Avengers, Vance and Robbie are reunited and begin the journey to reclaim both the name Speedball and New Warriors.
I really enjoy the early New Warriors work, but there was something about the later years that really spoke to me. This sense of us against the world, but more like only we can really understand what we’ve lost. The later series does a lot with ideas of reputation and redemption, walking the line between the levity of the first few years and the darkness of the Civil War era.

(slight trigger warning: as well as the usual comic book fair of gory violence, mind control, and other sci-fi/fantasy bad things, they also include stories about child abuse and self harm)
-----Pre Civil War----
New Warriors Vol 1 (1990)
They are among the main characters of this book and a lot of character development happens here. However, I have not had a chance to go back through to pick out specifically important arcs yet.
New Warriors Vol 3 (2003
I really enjoy this run, it’s short and the art is nice. It only has Robbie in it, but it sets up a really great contrast for what will come after Civil War, and I think having this run as background for him is helpful.
-----Civil War Era -----
Civil War Era mostly focuses on Robbie, Vance is around a bit in the background but Robbie is the one with the story arc here
Civil War #1
Civil War: Frontlines
-----Civil War Aftermath----
Robbie and Vance are mostly split up during this period, but about half way through they begin crossing paths again.
Avengers: The Initiative #1-12
These issues set up where Vance is in the aftermath of Civil War
Thunderbolts #110 - 126
Thunderbolts: Desperate Measures
Meanwhile this is what Robbie’s been up to
Avengers: The Initiative #21-35
And now everyone is in the same book, even if they don’t know it
------Current(ish)--------
Avengers Academy #1-20
And now that Vance has Robbie back he’s never letting him out of his sight again
Fear Itself: Homefront
Nova (2013) #7, 8, and 9
New Warriors Vol 5 (2014)
Prompts
- What did Vance and Robbie do on their Road Trip.
- Robbie is apparently not as over the Penance stuff as he pretends to be, does Vance find out? And what does he do about it?
- The dropped plots when New Warriors 2014 got cancelled - finding Namorita, Mictlan rises, etc.
- During the Shatterstar series there is brief mention of the Noir-verse's New Warriors and now I'm curious. What do you think that looks like? How does the change in setting change Vance and Robby’s story.
Richard Rider (Nova)
Richard Rider was an average high school student when an alien crashed on earth and gave Richard the power of the Nova force, an intergalactic peacekeeping force. After joining the New Warriors and serving on Earth for several years the emergence of the Annihilation Wave forced Richard to return to space and serve the galaxy as the last surviving member of the Nova core.
I love stories about regular people rising to the call of extraordinary situations and that is the core of Richard’s character arc. Richard is just a regular guy who ends up in this position and proves himself to be the greatest hero the galaxy has ever had.

You can the early adventures of Nova in New Warriors and The Man Called Nova, however the character gets a bit of a reinvention in 2007 and you don't really need to read those for his future adventures. They'll occasionally make a reference to him having been a New Warrior, but otherwise it's not necessary.

Relevant events of this era which he will be in:
Nova (2017)
Annihilation: Scourge ()
Guardians of the Galaxy (2020)
Prompts
--So the end Annihilation: Scourge was a lot of Tentacle in Rich's mouth. You could maybe expand on that. Were there a lot of tentacles penetrating Rich well he was in the realm of evil tentacle monsters for years? What if the tentacle monster of Scourge utilized more holes to fill Rich? I just really want Rich menaced by all the tentacles, and I have some pictures for inspirations:

-Richard/Gamora/Peter all love each other a lot, but they also have a lot of baggage between them. Will they ever be able to get together?
--Teddy is now King of the united Kree/Skrull empire how’s that going? How does Richard feel about this new united power. He’s brokered peace and brought Kree and Skrull together before to face existential threats, does he think this peace will be as temporary as his? Does he support or oppose Teddy’s goals?
Bobby Drake
Bobby has always been my favorite. I like his general upbeat attitude and good heart and struggles around potential and achievement. I like that he enjoys his life for the most part. I ship him with lots of people, just about any guy will do, in particular Simon Lasker, Jean-Paul, and Hank are my big ones but really any guy at all.
Where Can You Find Me:
What Book Are Relevant to My Story:
Bobby is one of those characters who has a very, very long history and I don't expect anyone to have read everything he's been in. I think for my prompts the most relevant eras are: O5 period (either the original 60s comics or a more modern retelling), Chuck Austin's run, X-men Gold, and the Mauraders.
(links coming soon)
Prompts
- Bobby's a bon-a-fide pirate now, he gets to do pirate things like get very drunk and marry his one night stand.
- The Marauders help mutants who can't get to Krakoa, who’s their next mission?
- all those trips to the coffee-a-go-go with Hank were totally dates, Bobby unfortunately didn't get the memo.
- Jean and Scott are getting married again or maybe just renewing their vows, when they've both been dead the exact legal status gets a bit fuzzy, Bobby and Hank are both dateless, guess they'll have to go together.
- Jean-Paul and Bobby have always had bad timing with each other, Jean-paul falls in love before Bobby is ready to face his sexuality. When Bobby is ready to admit he wanted Jean-Paul he’s already married someone else. Maybe someday, in some universe they might get it right.
- Love is what always breaks the curse or mind control or brainwashing. At least it better because Love is all [man of your choice] has got at the moment and Bobby is about to start the next ice age.
